Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific company. On their end, three records are set up automatically right after the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain address where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the emails for that specific Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are generally considered to be one thing, while they are in reality two different services. Having different records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you'd like. For example, some new company might have exceptional uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the first and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a site or send an email - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain address is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed site or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Website Hosting

If you have a Linux website hosting package from us, you'll be able to see, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. So long as a specific domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to modify specific records by using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or e-mails pointed to any other service provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool is going to allow you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name the slightest bit. If you choose to use the email services of a different service provider and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with simply a couple of clicks in the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from us, you're going to be able to see and update the A and MX records for any of the domain names or subdomains you host within the account. The Hepsia CP, which you'll get to take care of the account, comes with an innovative, though easy-to-use tool where all hosts are going to be listed in alphabetical order and you will be able to change their records with no more than a few clicks. If you have to create a new record, it's going to be equally simple - choose the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you are going to be ready. Additionally, you'll be able to set different priority for the MX records that you create in case you choose to use a third-party e-mail provider and they ask you to set up additional records besides the 2 default ones. If you ever encounter any issues, we've got a comprehensive Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to create or change any record.
